Shopify rebuild for Vanilla Miel — Mumbai's artisanal pâtisserie
A Shopify site that matches the quality of their chocolate. Gifting, cafe pickup, and a delivery flow that actually works in Mumbai.
The brief
Vanilla Miel is a Bandra-based pâtisserie and chocolaterie — the kind of place where a single praline takes three days to make. Their old Shopify theme didn't match that care. Hero image cropped badly on mobile. Checkout felt generic. The gifting flow — their biggest AOV lever — was buried.
They asked for a rebuild that matched the in-store experience online, without moving off Shopify (they needed to keep their Swiggy and Zomato integrations and the existing product catalogue).
What we did
We rebuilt the storefront on a custom Shopify theme, opinionated about the things that mattered:
- Product-first photography layout — full-bleed imagery, generous whitespace, type that doesn't fight the product
- Gifting flow redesigned — curated sets, custom boxes, delivery-date picker, gift messaging all in a single path instead of scattered across pages
- Smart delivery UX — locality picker on the homepage, next-day availability clear from first click, no more "out of delivery range" surprises at checkout
- Cafe pickup integration — Pali Village pickup slots (3:30–8:30 PM) inline on product cards, not hidden at checkout
- Klaviyo flows — abandoned cart, post-purchase, and seasonal collection launches, all tied to the new collection structure
Results
In the first 90 days after launch:
- Online orders up 2.4× month-over-month
- Average order value +38% — driven mostly by the gifting flow converting browse-to-buy more effectively
- LCP dropped to 1.8s on mobile (from 4.2s) — Google Search Console impressions also up after the rebuild
More importantly: the site now feels like the brand. Every time a regular tells them "your new site is beautiful", that's compounding.
